Prior to Brit:

1. Please inform your pediatrician about your plans to have brit performed and obtain verbal permission
2. Your son should weigh at lease 2400 grams (5 pounds, 4.5 oz.)
3. Baby’s penis must be noted by pediatrician to appear normal
Bilirubin level should be under 12 mgs.
4. To be certain, Rabbi Doctor Bauman will check the penis prior to the brit

Please do not nurse or bottle feed your son within two hours prior to the scheduled brit

Please Prepare and Bring to the Brit Ceremony:

1. Large and comfortable clean pillow
2. Minimum of six disposable diapers. Size zero/newborn diapers unless your baby weighs more than 9 pounds/3.8 kilos.
3. Extra change of baby clothes
4. Baby wipes (without alcohol; aloe ok)
5. Baby bottles (even if nursing)
6. Tallit for father of baby and Sandek
7. Kippot for men
8. Kosher wine (red or white) and opener and kiddush cup or fancy glass
9. Two stationary chairs & table
10. 7 tubes of (original) Bacitracin or Neosporin (green and yellow box) without lidocaine or Pramoxine HCl.
11. If you desire to use Emla Cream prior to brit, please let Rabbi Doctor Bauman be aware so he may give you proper instruction for its application

Please choose setting that will not be too crowded, pleasant temperature
It is good practice to keep your newborn isolated from your guests, whenever possible, before and after brit to reduce his chances of contracting an illness such as the flu.
